It's a bit presumptuous of me to call this a spring day.
No cherry blossoms yet, no budding leaves. But, it's the first truly sunny
day in eons, and it reached all of 50, so I dare to be hopeful.
I turned the horses into pastures 1 and 2 to stretch their
legs a little. I'd turned them out a few days ago, so they didn't cut
up much, but I got a little bit of (rather boring) video. For those who
don't know my herd, the players are:
Blue -- 6 year old, blue roan quarter horse. The only
boy in the bunch. Runs the girls ragged.
.
Rowan -- the baby. She just turned 3, and she's still
immature. She's a dark seal brown with a white star on her forehead.
She's 1/4 Percheron and 3/4 thoroughbred, and she was a rescue from
the feedlot. She's the one who does the most running around on the video.
.
Guinevere -- the heavy black mare. She and Rowan often
look like they're the same color, but technically they're not. Guin
is true black, and Rowan is dark brown. Guin is half Percheron, half
something smaller -- probably quarter horse. She's a former PMU mare.
She is stunningly beautiful when she's cleaned up and in summer coat.
Right now she looks like a shaggy yak. :-)
.
Princess -- my oldster, also a feedlot rescue. She's
the almost-white horse, who decided to roll in the mud last night, and
so she's beyond filthy in this video. You don't see much of her. She
tries to stay out of the way of the others. She has arthritis and can't
deal well with their antics.
